G’day, mates!

Hello!

I have been very busy over the last few days with working and packing!!  Packing is proving to be difficult and stressful.  I am about to go to the store to purchase those vacuum seal bags, so I will be posting a review on them after I try them out.  I’ve been chatting with my family, they seem as excited for me to get there as I am!  The father of my family has looked in to some things I was unsure about regarding healthcare (if I can get on adderall over there and how to do it, and if dental insurance is an affordable option) and has emailed me about it today.  As soon as I get going on those processes I will also post on how it went!

I am only working for them from 3-6 Monday – Friday, so they are helping me to find a job during the daytime.  The minumum wage in Australia is ~$16, so with only 3 hours daily I can be pulling almost $250 additionally a week, as well as meet more local people.  I thought it would be a great idea to provide lunchtime relief for daycare workers, and there are two within walking distance of my new home.  The father of my family stopped in those daycares for me and asked if they would be hiring and what steps I would need to take in order to get hired, and they are both interested in meeting me when I get there!! I know that the main things I need to do is get recommendations from the daycare centers I have worked in, and in Australia they require you to have a blue card in order to work in childcare.  I will post on how all of this goes once I get to it, as well!

Only 16 days, 10 hours, and 52 minutes until I leave for Australia!!

Happy new year!

What better way to ring in the new year than with the news that my work and holiday visa was granted!!!  Within three hours of submission I received the letter that was the final potential setback to my move down under.  I now officially have a family to live with/work for, my ticket booked, my US passport in the mail, and the right to legally work while staying in Australia.  Only thing left is the insane amount of moving/packing I have to do in the 20 days, 16 hours, and 42 minutes remaining before I ship off.  Luckily everyone will be up late tonight (for New Years) because I’m so excited I know I won’t be able to sleep!  Thank you US and Australian governments for being so speedy in approving all my applications!! Now to go get ready for tonight’s celebrations.

Happy new year, mate!
